waffles waffles, aaah!
I love waffles but I also hate them. I'm like, mm.. i'm in the mood for waffles. So i make them and then I put my topping of choice on them, like syrup or jam but regardless of what it is, I am then reminded for the 80 billionth time that whatever topping you put on waffles gets stuck in the little squares and makes it impossible to spread around. I then have to fight the urge to just mash down all the little squares on the waffle and flatten it out which would turn it into a pancake and if i wanted pancakes then I should have made pancakes and the idea of filling each square with topping sounds not only laborious to me, but unappealing since i don't think i want THAT much topping. So what to do?? What?? It's a dilemma, i tell you. A quandary.

I'm totally with you on waffles. They're fine sure, but I'll take the pancakes. Thanks. Plus it's so darn hard to clean the waffle-maker. Any food that requires a dedicated appliance really has a lot to prove once it makes it to the plate, and what can be said for them? Waffles strike out.
I am usually not partial to waffles OR pancakes. But if I had to choose one.... it would be waffles. The tend to keep a certain crunch that pancakes never even obtain. As for the topping dilemma, it took some thought, but I came up with: spray butter(available at any grocery store) and a sifter full of powdered sugar. Both are easy to distribute over such a trial-some surface.
Carolyn, welcome! :) And: spray butter and powdered sugar, brilliant! Toppings that can be evenly distributed.
That reminds me of the new spray salad dressing by Wishbone. While i generally dislike Wishbone brand dressing, the idea of spray-on salad dressing is very intriguing...
Tell me about it!! One calorie per spray! -- I'll bet Wishbone is making a fortune off that clever idea.
I've never wandered onto your blog before, but I've read many a comments from you on Rob's blog. I figure, anyone who has the same sick sense of humor as Rob and I, how can I go wrong. I went to school with Rob, by the way.
I can't stand powdered sugar on anything. It seems that I take a breath right before a bite enters my mouth and I aspirate the powdered sugar and a coughing spell insues. I learn my lesson for a few bites and then forget and the hacking continues.
