In my life I believe I have developed a greater appreciation for basically everything super geeky. We know this. Star Trek, space, video games, computer games, sci-fi, fantasy... this is all well-covered territory. But there is a realm that has remained untouched for reasons I can't explain, and that is the realm of CHESS. I have had minor experiences with chess up until now. I recall having a moment with my dad trying to teach me, years and years ago. And, I taught a class of kindergarteners once and had a 5-year-old try to teach me. This was humbling. But it wasn't until we got our new computer that came with some games, one of those games being Chess. I thought, what the hey? and clicked on the icon.
I...am...obsessed. I LOVE this game. I learned what the pieces do and I can't sleep at nights because i'm playing out games in my head. I'm learning the strategy and I absolutely love the aspect of anticipating my opponent's move. True, so far my only opponents have been the computer and Sean but let me tell you, as a beginner, it is EXTREMELY fulfilling to win a game. I've beaten the computer 4 times now and each time (despite a couple of those being purely accidental) i feel like taking a victory lap around the kitchen. It is AWESOME! How did i not get involved with this sooner? How unaware I was of this deprivation. I am a total chess geek now. The World of Geeks has cornered me, coming at me from every angle, and my citizenship is complete. Check Mate.

Yes..perhaps it was only a matter of time until you discovered chess. Maybe it's a good thing you had a late discovery or you may have missed out on some things because you were too busy playing chess. ahaha...lame...I know
One day, my friend, you must teach me. I know nothing. But, now you're all good, so I'll be self conscious. Crap. Nevermind.
No no. It is a humbling sport. And I have developed such a wrathful vengeance against this @#$% computer that i play against. It's become a person to me almost. Sad. But i hate losing all the time!! So i'm definitely still a beginner. It's maddeningly addictive though. I can't give it up.
Ames, true that. Who knows how dorky I would have been had I been playing chess every night instead of being social. Good thing THAT never happened. Now, time for a game...
Rook to the King's Bishop twelve! I cannot believe you ended your post with "Check Mate." Your citizenship should be promoted to ambassador.
You and Dereck should play. he's pretty good and i don't know how. he's probably scared for me to learn then he'll lose all the time...probably.
