One of the songs we recorded before the band broke up was a song called Only the Dead Know Brooklyn. Dominic introduced it to us and Jeff shared a story how he saw a dead guy in the subway station and we all shared a somber moment. (Later that night I kept waking up singing the song over and over again in my head and picturing a dead guy. Yipes.)
Now, I don't sing, but when Dom first introduced this song i could not help myself. I said "I can't think of anything on the piano. I just want to sing." It just felt right. And they let me, and it was so fun, and I was so nervous. Here it is. It may be posted temporarily so enjoy it while you can. I love this song, so much. The city is in my heart.
Happy Friday, and feel free to listen to this as many times as you need, to feel happy today.

(On top of the original tracks, Dom sings about various areas of Brooklyn that are near and dear to our hearts. He also ran the NY marathon last year. Also, Sean joined in with the group on the chorus & last verse, which was so fun.)

Oooo! I like it.
Wow. I can't believe how catchy that tune is. I bet we'll all be up half the night with it stuck in our heads.
Yes, I agree. I can't believe how catchy the tune is. I really like it!
Yeah, AND I'll now be picturing dead people while I happily hum the tune.
I also love "before the band broke up." You're so lucky to have been in a band. They should totally do an E! True Hollywood Story on you, or at least VH1 Behind the Music...
Hi! Am I allowed to comment on here? I love this track. Meilin especially loves it- she did some major head banging (her version of dancing) to it. I miss TLW
That was pretty cool Jen.
Whoa! I just made a random connection! Ange with the baby Meilin is married to Spencer who I knew in Minnesota growing up...
Whoa, that is crazy! Aren't blogs wonderful? Another weird connection: Spencer knew my brother's wife's family who lived in minnesota back in the day.
Brooklyn Ange, of COURSE you can comment, and should. More. Thanks for being a Lower West fan. I would like to see this head-banging of Meilin's, especially with her punk rock hair.
Glad you all liked. (or seemed to) Thanks for the nice words. It is a song close to my heart.
how do i buy your songs to put on my ipod?
Rockin tune, Jen! Totally cool. Makes me wish I had some skills. I'm workin on my beat boxing so let me know if you need me to lay down my thing on one of your tracks.
Get us copies of your songs so we can represent the West side.......the real West side!
