Words With Jen

Today I said I was telling a friend something I had typed on a typerwriter. So i used it as a verb and had to make it past tense.  What did i choose?  

"...and so I typewritered..."

What should it have been? Typewrote? Was I right with typewritered?  Or is it completely irrelevant, just like the typewriter.

    I think you were correct, because "typewrote" would be taking off the r, which seems a bit unfair, right?
