Believe me, I considered changing those c's to k's in the title but decided against it. Do i regret it? Maybe.
So it turns out that Sean and I quite enjoy doing the ol' Christmas card thing. I know, who'd have thought? It's just really fun to send out something totally weird to people, as I always say.
This year's may be our weirdest.
See, it'd been a desire of mine for many years now to save the Christmas cards we get and re-use them. Seriously, we've been saving for at least 4 years. And this Christmas we finally got to do it!! I know. Exciting times. We were a little bit short so we used cards we already had around the house (so there was no purchasing of cards whatsoever) including weird art ones Sean was given at work that are preeetty ugly.
Since we were using actual Christmas cards from people, we decided we should try to preserve people's anonymity even though we did our best to send them to total strangers. So we had to make some creative adjustments. We doctored them, stickered them, and made other festive additions/adjustments, added a message and our picture and sent them out, wondering what the hey we had done. Each card was unique with just the right touch of Seanifer. It was seriously fun, and I've decided I love messing up existing cards/images instead of having to produce my own. I guess that's why Photoshop was invented, bless it.
Here are 2 cards we took pictures of because we loved them so.
Sean added the star and rays with some paint markers and I cut a gingerbread man in half who really completed the wintery scene:
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Never underestimate the power of stickers. We used up almost my entire Christmas collection (which was amazing and abundant (and which Sean has replenished with an early Christmas present to me--woohoo!)
This next one is one of my very favorites. I had my whole sticker box on the table and Sean said, "Hmm.. do you have a robot head or something? [I do have robot heads] I need a head." He was reaching for a robot when I stopped him, "Wait--WAIT!" I frantically searched and found it. He finished working and said, "I think something magical has just happened." Behold:
Aaahahaha. Oh i love this one. Look how the coat/sweater align perfectly? Amazing. I could look at it all day.
I wish we'd taken pictures of others. Some of my favorites included splicing dinosaur stickers and putting them in a woodsy landscape with rivers and farmhouses and rickety old bridges (complete with santa hat on dinosaur). We try to think of funny and new things every year but I really don't know how we can NOT do this type of thing every year. It may be the start of a new tradition.
And with that, since our cards were so cut and pasty and hodge-podgy, here is our Christmas picture for 2010:
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Merry Christmas!
Sincerely,
)en
