Here are my thoughts re: 7/4:
1. I always want to make a flag cake with raspberries and blueberries and probably Cool Whip. Ew. But also, Mmm. I never have. Not this year, but maybe one day.
2. Speaking of flags, there is a restaurant around the corner that hangs different flags and it rotates and we always try to guess them. I know a few but am about 15% with my flag knowledge. We felt this was a disgrace so I bought some flag flashcards and one night Sean and I spent the evening learning them and quizzing each other. I know, I know. Too much.
3. When I was young I loved going to parades and having barbecues (blogger does not recognize barbeque as a word which is how i ALWAYS spell it. What?) and watching lame fireworks go off in the street. I think this is classic. I miss it. All of these things are very difficult where I live. 4th o' July might be when I miss the 'burbs the most. All i want is a backyard barbeq/cue.
4. This year we're packing the car and driving up to BOSTON! Beantown, Part II. What better place to celebrate your country? In... a city where lots of things happened many years ago. I'm excited. See you on the flip side.
and happy 4th!

i make a cookie-cake every year, just bought the stuff at the store this morning. it's a cream-cheese sugar cookie crust, marshmallow cream and cream cheese frosting, with strawberries and blueberries arranged in the flag. it's awesome and SUPER delicious! have fun in boston!
